We extend our heartfelt solidarity to the Cordillera people on the occasion of the 41st Cordillera Day celebration, united under the theme “Assert Our Rights. Persist in the Struggle for Self-Determination. Advance the Politics of Change.”
Through the years, our continued partnership with the Center for Development Programs in the Cordillera (CDPC) and the government of the Province of East Flanders in Belgium has fostered a deep bond with the Cordillera people. Our ongoing agroecology project brings together farmers, civil society organizations (CSOs), government agencies, and officials in shaping a rights-based agroecological food system. Agroecology champions the fundamental rights to land, resources, and self-determination.
In our many visits to the Cordillera, we have witnessed the unwavering courage of organizations representing youth, women, men, and other sectors in defending their rights to land and resources. Despite persistent challenges in the pursuit of people-centered development, multi-sectoral organizations in the Cordillera remain steadfast in their struggle for a brighter, more just future.
We firmly believe that the communities feeding the world must have their collective rights safeguarded to ensure their access and control over land, waters, seeds, knowledge, and culture. We stand with you in your resolute call to courageously advance the struggle for land, life, and honor!
